Privacy Policy
This is a small personal project, not a company. Here's what actually happens with your data.
What's collected
- Your username and password: stored as a salted hash (scrypt), never in plain text, never visible to anyone, including whoever runs this site.
- An email, only if you choose to give one: used only to send you a password reset link if you ask for one. Not shown to anyone else, not used for anything else.
- Your ranking activity: which songs you compared, which you picked and the scores/rankings that come out of it, so the app can show you your results and let you come back to them later.
- A color theme preference, if you set one.
What's not collected
No tracking, no analytics scripts, no ads, no third-party cookies, no real name, no payment info.
Cookies
One cookie: a random session token that keeps you logged in. Not used for tracking or advertising, not shared with anyone.
Third parties involved
- iTunes Search API (Apple): looks up 30 second song previews and artwork. Only song titles get sent, and it happens once when the catalog's set up, not tied to your account or activity.
- Resend: only used if you request a password reset. Your email and the reset link get sent through them to deliver that one email.
- DigitalOcean: hosts the server. Standard web server logs (can include IP addresses) may exist at the infrastructure level, same as any website.
Your data is never sold, shared, or used for advertising.
Your data, your control
You can delete your account and everything tied to it: rankings, comparisons, email, all of it, any time from Account Settings. It's immediate, and there's no undo. That's the point.
